park entry fees for queen elizabeth national park: Queen Elizabeth national park is a remarkable tourist destination and a protected area in Uganda receiving a huge number of tourists visiting for a spectacular safari experience, Queen Elizabeth national park is found in the western park of Uganda offering a bunch of entertaining and memorable tourist safaris such as lion tracking experience, wildlife viewing, guided nature walks, launch cruise and bird watching.

Like most of tourist destinations and protected areas in Uganda the pearl of Africa, Queen Elizabeth national park is under the administration and management of the Uganda wildlife authority (UWA), Uganda wildlife authority is responsible for drafting charges to be paid by tourists to access the park and also to participate in activities offered by the park.

Charges drafted by the Uganda wildlife authority are categories as entrance fees, activity fees, annual park fees and vehicle and aircraft fees. These charge are charged according to the status of the tourists that is foreign residents, non-foreign residents and East Africa Community tourist. non-Foreign residents’ status are for tourists who do not work or live in Uganda or any country in east Africa community countries, foreign residents are tourists living in in east African community countries such as Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda and have a valid working permit. East African community tourists are residents of east African communities such as Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda.

Entrance fees

Entrance fees at Queen Elizabeth national park are the only assurance and the only permit allowing entrance in Queen Elizabeth national park for a safari experience, these charges are paid at the park’s UWA offices at the main gates of the park. These charges are charged according to the status of the tourist that is non-foreign residents, foreign residents and East African community residents and for verification of the tourist’s status you are required to present your passport for non-foreign residents (also require a valid working permit) and foreign residents. For East African community tourists you are required to present a valid national card or a passport, one of the two is acceptable, queen Lizabeth entrance fees are as follows

  • Foreign residents

Foreign residents are charged USD 30 per entry to the park, the permit expiries after 24 hours, children are charged USD 10.

  • Non foreign residents

Non-foreign residents are charged USD 40 per entry, children are charged USD 20.

  • East African community residents

East African community residents are charged 20,000 UGx

Activity fees

Each activity offered in Queen Elizabeth national park is offered for a charge for a tourist to participate in it, these charges are categorized and charged according to the status of the visitors and the activity. These charges are as follows 

Launch cruise

Launch cruise is charged as follows

  • USD 30 for foreign non residents
  • USD 30 for foreign residents
  • UGx 30,000 for east African community residents

Game drives

Game drives in queen Elizabeth national park are charged according to the kind of game drive you want to participate in that is day or night game drive.

Day game drive

  • USD 20 for foreign non residents
  • USD 20 for foreign residents
  • UGx 20,000 for East African community residents

Night game drive

  • USD 30 for foreign non residents
  • USD 30 for foreign residents
  • UGx 50,000 for East African community citizens.

Nature walks

Nature walk activity is charged according to the types of nature walk

Day nature walk

  • USD 30 for foreign non-residents
  • USD 15 for foreign residents
  • UGx 10,000 for East African community citizens

Night nature walk

  • USD 40 for foreign non-residents
  • USD 20 for foreign residents
  • UGx 15,000 for East African residents

Bird watching

Bird watching experience is charged

  • USD 30 for foreign non-residents
  • USD 30 for foreign residents
  • UGx 10,000 for East African community residents

Annual park fees 

Annual park fees are charged on tourists and institutions intending to visit Queen Elizabeth national park throughout the year for safari experiences, these charges are charged on annual basis and only apply to foreigner residents and East African citizens and detailed as below

  • single person

Single east African tourist is charged UGx 150,000 and a single foreign resident is charged USD 350

  • couple

A couple is a set of two people most probably lovers are charged USD 500 for foreign resident coupe and for East African community couples are charged UGx 200,000/=

  • family

A family on a safari in Queen Elizabeth national park are charged USD700 for foreign resident couples and UGX300, 000/= for East African community tourists. Family charges apply to a family with a minimum of 4 members. 

  • co-operate

Co-operate fees apply for an institutions and companies like banks, hotels intending to go on a safari experience in Queen Elizabeth national park. Foreign resident co-operates are charged USD 1500 and UGx 2.5 million for cooperate East African citizens.

  • safari guide  

Safari guides operating in Queen Elizabeth national park, these annual charges are applicable to only East Africa community guides and drivers. They are charged UGx 100,000/=

  • tour operators

Tour operators

  • tour company driver

Tour company driver is not charged as long as you are from a recognized Ugandan tour company. 

Vehicle, boat and air craft park entry fees

Vehicles that is cars and motorcycles and air crafts landing and parking in Queen Elizabeth national park are charged a few as longs as they are in the proximity of the park, the vehicles and aircrafts are charged according to the status that is foreign residents and East African citizens. These charges/fees are detailed as below

  • Motorcycles

Motorcycles for foreign registered are charged USD 30/= and for Ugandan are charged UGx 10,000/=

  • saloon cars

Foreign registered saloon cars are charged USD 40 and for Ugandan registered are charged UGx 20,000/=

  • mini buses

Mini buses for foreign registered are charged USD 50 and for Ugandan registered are charged 30,000/= UGx

  • pickups and 4WD cars

Pickups and 4WD cars are charged USD 50 for foreign registered and for Ugandan registered charged UGx 30,000/=

  • school buses

School buses for always for East African education institutions and they are charged UGx 50,000/=

  • buses and lorries

Foreign buses and Lorries are charged USD 150 and Ugandan registered are charged UGx 150,000

  • over landers

Over landers are charged 150 for foreign and UGx for Ugandan registered

Note: Vehicles are charged per entry in Queen Elizabeth national park

Air craft fees

These fees are charged to any kind of aircraft landing in the proximity of Queen Elizabeth national park, these charges are categorized according to the type of the air craft and number of seats. These charges are only limited to both foreign residents and East African community. These charges are listed as

  • helicopters

Foreign resident’s helicopters are charged USD 100 and East African community helicopters are charged UGx 250,000.

  • Gliders and micro lights are charged USD 10 for foreign crafts and 20,000 UGx for Ugandan registered crafts
  • up to 3seaters are charged USD 20 for foreign crafts and 40,000 for Ugandan registered crafts
  • 4-6 seater are charged USD 30 for foreign crafts and 60,000 UGx for Ugandan registered crafts
  • 7-14 seater is charged USD 40 for foreign crafts and 80,000 UGx for Ugandan registered crafts
  • 15-20 seater is charged USD 50 for foreign crafts and 100,000 UGx for Ugandan registered crafts
  • 20 and above seater is charged USD 60 for foreign crafts and 120,000 UGx for Ugandan registered crafts
  • above A4 to 21 craft

These crafts are charged at a range of USD 30 to USD 50 for foreign resident crafts and at a range of UGx 60,000 to 120, 000 for east African crafts.

  • parking fee

Parking for aircraft is charged USD 8 for foreign residents and East African community crafts are charged UGx 500 for East African community crafts. 

Note: landing fees for all aircrafts excludes charges payable by passengers and pilots en-route do not pay entry fees long as they spend less than 2 hours in the park. 

Boat fees

These fees are charged to boats per day

  • Boats up to 15 seater are charged USD 50 for foreign registered and UGx 50,000 for Ugandan registered boats
  • Launches over 15 seater are charged USD 100 for foreign registered and UGx 150,000 for Uganda registered.
